Adopted!

Sorry for the delay in posting. I was busy with the holidays and vacations and....getting adopted!

After almost a year in foster care I am now in my forever home.

I have a new mom and dad. A human brother. And a cool dog-brother named Bullseye. He only has three legs but he still runs lots of circles in the back yard. That is us together on the couch. We are buds.

And my new cool hang spot is a comfy bed on top of my crate. I said I got adopted...didn't say I stopped being a weirdo.

Thanks to everyone who loved me as a foster dog. You helped me turn into a forever dog!

Foster moms

Foster moms are great. They love you and treat you like their own. My foster mom is as sick as dog (where do they get that saying anyways? I feel great). So, this is what we did. All day yesterday. She says I was just what the doctored ordered.

Buds

So I want to share these with you because they are so cute. But I don't want you to get the wrong idea. I mean, I like Minnie and Ellery. They're okay. But they aren't all that and a bag of chips. You are probably all that, a bag of chips, and a diet coke so I'd much prefer to cuddle with you. I'll just use, abuse, and lay on them while I have to be here. So, adopt me, okay?!?! I am getting impatient.

Flubbs

I think I am growing up. I am going to be a big boy soon. My mom says she knows this because I have grown some flubbs. What is flubbs? You know, flubbly-jubbly? Lip smacking lips? Extra mouth flaps? I've been developing some nice flubbs. I use my flubbs to chew toys, stash extra food in there for later, and give some wet kisses. WET KISSES!

Photo Session

I woke up this morning and just felt handsome. Cuddly and handsome. The morning light was flattering, too, so my foster mom snapped some pictures.

Could you imagine waking up to something this handsome EVERY morning? You could, if you adopted me!

Family

My foster mom's sister - Dana - goes to college nearby. She got sick so she came by to get away from the dorms. We knew she wasn't feeling well so we sat on her. And gave her love. And sat on her. And made sure she drank her gatorade.

I think she feels better already. I'm practically a doctor.

Stoop Lounging

So, you heard I like to sit in chairs like people. And sleep in crates. And nap on tops of people and dogs.

Wanna know my new thing? Stoop lounging. I like to lay on the metal steps going from my kitchen to the backyard. My mom thinks this is weird because metal steps don't sound too comfy for her. But I like it. They get the warm afternoon sun to toast up the fall day. And I am close to the inside but still outside.

My mom is starting to worry about me getting Peezy-sun-burnt so we are doing some research on sun block.

There's a somebody..........

There's a somebody I'm longing to see
I hope that she turns out to be
Someone who'll watch over me
I'm a little lamb who's lost in the wood
I know I could always be good
Someone who'll watch over me

StubbyDog

StubbyDog is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), focused on changing public perceptions of pit bulls. Their vision is a world where every pit bull has the right to a good life. Their mission is to help people rediscover pit bulls as lifelong friends.

They are pretty cool.

And the picked me, Baby J, to be their Stubby Dog of the Week.

I hope this means I'll find a great forever home soon. One who thinks that being deaf is pretty cute, that playing endless fetch is fun, that toys are as necessary as food and water, and that cuddling should be a daily medicine.

Raining / Pouring

...and I wanted to play fetch so bad I consented to wear this ridiculous jacket. I know I said it was for dorks before but....well, I'm more mature now. Jackets are for smart kids who want to play fetch in the rain.

Less-Adoptable?

Over at Petfinder it is "Less-Adoptable Animal Week". Apparently, Petfinder lumps deaf dogs into the less-adoptable category. I guess it is nice for folks like me to get some attention but I thought I was a Peezy not Less-Adoptable?

Anyways, call me what you will but I'd love if you gave ME a great forever home or even adopted one of those other Less-Adoptable Animals and gave them a forever home.

Friends

My friend HOPE  the mastiff came to stay with us this weekend. She is like my foster brother, Ellery.... little scared of new things, especially people. But not scared of me! I hung near her crate and made sure she ate her meals and took good naps.

Her own foster family comes back from the beach tonight but I don't think I'd mind if she had to stay here for longer. She was pretty nice.

I really like my donations

I really like the toys that got donated to me.

So I thought I should tell you again.

I like toys.

And nice people and companies who donate them to good Peezy's like me.

I am also learning that if I like my toys I shouldn't kill them. Because then I don't have them anymore.

Clearly, I haven't yet learned about modesty.

Donations!

My fairy dogmother, Melanie who runs Mutts Matter, recently attended a neat event run by BlogPaws. She told my foster momma there was a lot of super cool stuff there. Melanie got a lot of great donations. So, my foster momma and my dude went up to pick out some things for me.

I got a lot of cool stuff like treats, bones, a dog bed, balls, blankets, some food, and even a jacket. I think jackets are for DORKS so I won't wear it. My mom says I should be appreciative and wear the damn jacket but I am being stubborn.

So, in thanks to my fairy dogmother and to the people at BlogPaws I wanted to show off me using some of my goods.

I even share with my foster sibs. Ellery likes to sleep with his toys. See the fun toy behind him? It might be one of my favorites.

I need Jackie O glasses!

...........Because I am famous, baby.

A nice volunteer lady wrote an article about me and it hit all the local Patch online papers in the last week or so.

See me here in Oakton: http://oakton.patch.com/articles/introducing-baby-j

And here in Mount Venron: http://mountvernon.patch.com/articles/mutts-matter-meet-baby-j

Okay, they are the same article. You don't need to read both.

But, please "recommend" or "share" or social media-tize me all over the place.

I sure hope I get a forever home soon.

One of the best things about me....is kind of gross

What is the kid's book? Everybody poops? Nobody wants to talk about it in public but everybody talks about it at some point in time.

Well, I am no different. No, I don't talk about poo. But, I do poo.

It has been storming here in DC for a few weeks. First earthquakes, then hurricanes, now thunderstorm monsoons. My mom says other dogs don't like the rain. They don't like their paws to get wet. They don't like to get their backs wet in the rain. So, the do their business all wrong and go potty in the house. What the what?!?!

Let me tell you something about me. I don't mind the rain at all. Not one bit. I don't mind muddy wet paws and I don't mind a wet back.

I also can't hear the thunder and the rain so near fear on my side. No whining with the thunder claps or barking all night.

And I got outside and poop in the rain. And that, my friends, makes me a HIGHLY adoptable dog.

And just to round out this post about gross things in the most appropriate way......(close your eyes if you are squeamish)

Smile

Smile.

It is beautiful outside. I took a nap on my chair on top of my toy in a sunshine ray today.

Life is good.

The only way it would be better was if I had my own forever home. With a chair. And a toy. And sunshine.

What is the big deal?

My dude is watching the news and my mom went out and bought candles and flashlights.

What is the big deal? Something exciting about to happen?

I'll be here if you need me.

NBD

NBD. No Big Deal.

A nice lady who volunteers for Mutts Matter interviewed my foster momma about me. She said she is going to write an article about me.

While she is working on this article, she made this awesome FLYER that people can post and put around town.
